Title: Gamescom 2017: Xbox One to get 3 new Kinect video games… in 4K with HDR graphics

During Gamescom this week, Microsoft announced plans to bring three new Kinect video games to their Xbox One family of consoles, Disneyland Adventures, Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure, and Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection.

These three titles aren’t entirely new though as Zoo Tycoon is already on the Xbox One and this Ultimate Animal Collection appears to be a Definitive Edition sort of re-release with added content in addition to new 4K and HDR visuals. It’s unclear if current owners of the original game will get a free upgrade or if this will be a completely separate release.
The other two games were actually released on the Xbox 360 which makes them the first Xbox 360 Kinect games to come to the Xbox One. Xbox 360 games that need a peripheral such as the Kinect camera are unable to be ported via the Xbox One’s backward compatibility feature so a full redesign of titles is needed to bring them to the console.
Like the Zoo Tycoon re-release, Disneyland Adventures and Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure are also getting 4K and HDR visual upgrades. Disneyland Adventures is sort of a virtual reality exploration game set in the popular Disneyland theme park while Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure (called Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure on the Xbox 360) is a collection of mini-games featuring a large selection of Pixar characters.
While any mention of the Kinect is completely absent from the promotional materials released thus far (trailers on this page are for the 360 versions), full Kinect functionality has been confirmed for all three titles. Of particular note is the fact that all three titles are also going to be Xbox Play Anywhere games which means they’ll be playable on Windows 10 PCs as well. It’s unclear if Kinect functionality will simply not work on PC or if they could supplement the lack of Kinect with the device’s webcam.
All three titles will retail for $29.99 each and are set for release on the 31st of October, Halloween. It’s worth noting that all three titles will be the first 4K Kinect video games which is pretty amazing since so many people had assumed Microsoft had abandoned the Kinect completely.
