Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8, which is said to be a minor upgrade to the Surface Pro 7, will come with Intel’s Tiger Lake CPU and unchanged outlook. The base model of Surface Pro 8 was expected to start with Intel Core i3, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD storage, but the tech giant might be working on another base variant with 8GB of RAM.

Currently, the Surface Pro 7 base variant comes with only 4GB of RAM, Intel Core i3, and 128GB of SSD storage. It appears that Microsoft has now prototyped a new variant of the Surface Pro 8 with 8GB of RAM, Intel Core i3, and 128GB of storage.

Before, the 8GB of RAM models were only available with Intel Core i5 and Core i7. For 8GB memory, Microsoft customers were forced to upgrade to a model with a Core i5 or i7 CPU.

But that could soon change and Surface Pro 8 could finally receive new configuration options. If the report is correct, the next-gen Surface hardware will finally come with an 8GB RAM option for the base variant.

Note that the plans are always subject to change and the Surface Pro 8 base model could still ship with 4GB of RAM, as previously rumored.

Surface Pro 8 memory options:

   • Core i3, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD OR Core i3, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD.

   • Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD / 256GB SSD

   • Core i7, 16 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD, 512 GB SSD or 1TB SSD storage

For those unaware, Microsoft is currently planning to launch the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4 in January 2021 with improvements to the internal hardware. According to benchmarks (http://i.postimg.cc/28MgQLDy/Surface-Pro-benchmark.jpg) spotted online, the Pro 8 and Laptop 4 will be powered by Intel’s 11th-gen Tiger Lake processor (http://newsroom.intel.com/news-releases/11th-gen-tiger-lake-evo/#gs.ohgymb).

In one benchmark, a Surface device was spotted online with a Core i7-1185G7 processor and Iris Xe graphics. In addition to Intel models, Microsoft also appears to be testing a new Surface Laptop with AMD Renoir.
