Yes you read that right! Windows 8 Build 7850 (final M1) has managed to slip through and has landed into the wild. The Build number of the leaked 6.1.7850.0.winmain_win8m1.100922-1508_x86fre_client-enterprise_en-us.iso is 6.1.7850.0.winmain_win8m1.100922-1508 which means that it was compiled on 22nd September 2010.


Sources at Neowin has confirmed that the leaked build, which is currently available on a private FTP site, is legitimate, and that it is only a matter of time before it makes its way to a public torrent website.


Windows 8 leaks have been steadily finding their way in different forms onto the Internet for a couple of weeks now, with new screenshots appearing on a regular basis. But this particular final M1 version of Windows 8 appears to be the first build which is available publicly for download.


   

MS may huff and puff and threathen to punish any leakers, but I agree this is an intentional leak.  Win 8 is just over a year from release (maybe) so now is the time to start building excitement by getting us "geeks" talking about it.

Thanks for the info, but i have had this build for 2 days allready, i have it installed in WM and is runs ok for me. Is much win 7 still in this build, not much new things yet.  

There are a couple of changes in the build like they replaced the wallpaper to "Shhh.... let's not leak our hard work!" and they changed the title of the dialogue boxes so that they are in the centre.

Issues I have experienced using this leak is IE9 has difficulities opening W7NI and other sites without being in Compatibility Mode and even then it has troubles.

This is an excellent resopnse, however the final version of IE9 is only compatable with Windows Vista and Windows 7.

To confirm the above statement, here is the dialog box displayed when trying to install IE9.

Tested it and here's my little result.....
I started to installed some of my favorite programs and the Bluscreen came out so I uninstalled all the programs and now enjoying w/out any apps. This is not a waste of time bec. I learned something.....so if you  want to know something then try it.

When I built my new rig a couple of weeks ago I reserved a 70GB partition for an additional OS. This would be perfect for Win 8. Just hope it does not mess up my main OS.

Edit:  After posting this I went through the forum. It seems that the newest build is 7980 while this is 7850. Should I wait for 7980 to be available before installing?

It's going to be quite a while before another build leaks into the wild so if you want to play around with Windows 8 then go ahead and install it.

I recommend that you install it with the torrent provided with no-timebomb as it includes some activation methods you can try.

Today Sunday 04.17.11 - I reinstalled the no timebomb version which was smooth as usual, however the activators DO NOT work.  I have heard from other members that have had these same issues with these activators but Rearming is still viable.

The links for the "No BOMB" are all 100% DEAD.  So I can not test.  -----  there is how ever a program that does REMOVE the Time Bomb, then you reboot, and then you Activate with KMS.
very simple very straight forward. and the program if you keep getting the updates for it, all so has Reg edits to Activate many other itmes as soon as they are found.
"MDL" does have one version of this "Program". 
Some other info.... many people are having MAJOR PROBLEMS getting the INSTALL to work.. many people are also having BSOD.  The major reason for some of the PROBLEMS.
Devices that are specific to your system, are causing the PROBLEM. I can not be more specific than that...  1. Sample: 7850 installed on Acer EX5420 Laptop. Install is OK, but you instantly get a BLACK SOD. popup shows for about 2/3 seconds, then boot continues to Normal... you then receive a icon notice in Taskbar (left side) that when you click it says... "You have recovered from a Problem and when a Solution is found you will be notified." .... The problem is very simple: 1st you have to read the stupid popup that does not last long enough. 2 you will find the solution is FIX what ever the STUPID POPUP says... on the Acer EX5420 it is the MODEM. Softx56. Yes, M$ installs the Modem, installs the latest Driver. but YEP it gives you a BSOD. also this causes many many parts of Win8 7580 to not be installed and or functionable...(Read the CBS.LOG) you also should have a mini DMP. all this info on the ACER EX5420 tells you the MODEM is the PROBLEM>>> FIX is Disable and REBOOT... (DO NOT UNINSTALL-DISABLE)then when you reboot after the Disable give 7850 time to install every thing that was not allowed to start with.
