Corning Gorilla Glass is a sturdy glass material which has proven popular with smartphone and tablet makers because itís tougher to shatter or scratch than traditional glass. Now Corning is getting ready to launch the third generation of Gorilla Glass, which is even tougher to break.

Gorilla Glass 3 will be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas, and if previous Corning displays are anything to go by, I suspect the company will be putting glass panels through some heavy duty stress tests for the amusement of journalists.
The company says Gorilla Glass 3 is 3 times more scratch resistant than its predecessors, and if you do manage to scratch the surface of your phone or tablet, the scratches will be 40 percent less visible thanks to the way the glass is formulated.
