Bing is one Microsoft service that the technology titan invests a lot of time and money on. And the emphasis on the search engine has increased manifolds after the release of the Windows 8 platform, and the Surface tablets.

The Bing team regularly adds a lot of new features to its search service. New additions and improvements are almost a regular monthly occurrence, it appears. The search engine reached new heights when it was announced as the default search service for Siri by Apple last week.

Nevertheless, the Bing team is working on a number of things behind the curtains — not all of which are revealed to the public straight away. In fact, Microsoft said that it actually runs hundreds of experimental features on Bing every day.

And one such feature that was just unveiled is called Bing Boards. It is said to be a visual collection of data that is focused on a particular topic. This is quite similar in many ways, to Pinterest.

The company shared the details of this new feature in a blog post saying:

“Bing Boards are visual collections of images, videos and links that tell a story from a unique point of view. They are created by people who are passionate about the topics they blog, write or talk about – not companies or algorithms.

Bing Boards are designed to be complementary to web search results, appearing in the middle column of Bing, and are aimed to help people to discover new, visually rich content.”

Microsoft says that it is currently experimenting with this feature and working with several food and lifestyle bloggers (among other users) to help evolve it. You can take a look at early contributors to the Bing Boards service here at this link.

Additionally, if you are interested in creating your own Bing Boards, you can do so by requesting an invite on its official website. This interesting feature looks like it could soon hit primetime.
