Similar to how other search engines have started to offer the “Right to Be Forgotten” option to users in the Old Continent, Bing is also about to get this feature in the near future.

Microsoft have confirmed that something like this is under development, and users from Europe will soon be able to request this option. This new feature was requested by European Union for all search engines, and Google has already implemented this process.

The company offered a small update on this in a notice posted today:

Quote
“We’re currently working on a special process for residents of the European Union to request blocks of specific privacy-related search results on Bing in response to searches on their names.

Given the many questions that have been raised about how the recent ruling from the Court of Justice of the European Union should be implemented, developing an appropriate system is taking us some time. We’ll be providing additional information about making requests soon.”
Obviously, this is not a simple process, given the sheer complexity of search engines. But Google managed to do this pretty quickly, and it should not be long before Bing also gets in on the action.

The Right to Be Forgotten rule was created to give users the power to remove their details from the Internet in an easy fashion, and all online services in Europe have been asked to introduce such features as soon as possible.
