What’s New In Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9879?
« on: November 13, 2014, 02:36:15 PM »
Short answer, a lot. Microsoft have refined, enhanced and improved a lot of features in Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879, many of them based on user feedback.

After teasing this new version, the company released it just minutes ago.

Gabriel Aul, the lead of Microsoft’s Windows Insider program shared some insights on many of the new features that this fresh version brings. Interestingly, several of them have been revealed in some capacity these past few days.

For starters, the new Windows 10 build comes with options to hide or show the Task View and Search buttons on the Taskbar. Redmond claims that it received a bucketful of requests for this, and users now get dedicated options to disable these two features.

The company has also introduced new windows animations that now work on all computers.

Some people had complained that the original effects were somewhat annoying, so a little rounding of the edges was on order, proverbially speaking.

The Charms button on Metro apps also gets that popular hamburger design.

One feature that has already been spotted as being part of internal builds is finger gesture support, and it becomes available to all users with this new release.

OneDrive also gets in on the action — right-clicking the OneDrive folder allows configuration of a few settings. Settings like auto save and folders that can synced offline.

Some new icons are now available, Microsoft now allows users to pin their favorite folders to the Home section in File Explorer, and the smiley based feedback system in Internet Explorer is also live. Oh, and the native MKV support has also been improved in Windows 10 build 9879.

Bugs, it has a few, and Redmond is not only aware, but actively working on fixes.

Regardless, here is a rundown of what to expect.
