Skitch is freeware, which allows you to easily take a screenshot and do more with it. Skitch is not merely just a screenshot tool. It is graphic designer software specially designed to add more communication visuals to your screenshots.

There are many a times that you want to communicate some ideas with the screenshots you have taken. But with the limited features that the default Windows Snipping Tool has, you have limited scope to add inputs. However, with Skitch you can overcome such limitations. Skitch helps your to insert text annotations, sketch and add shapes to your screenshots; therefore adding purpose and helping others to see and understand your ideas.

Using Skitch, a graphic designer software

The installation of the Skitch is pretty easy and quick. There are 5 drop-down buttons present on top of the application window. They are as follows:

Skitch: Under Skitch button you will find the options to capture screen either in the full screen mode or you can also manually select the area to which you want to take out the screen shot. Other than this you can open any image present on your system. You can print, save screenshot as an image and can also save it to ‘Evernote’ for which you need to have an account on ‘Evernote’.



Edit: Copy, Paste, Delete, Undo and Redo options are found under the Edit drop down button.



View: View button is used for zooming in and out of the screenshot.



Tools: Under ‘Tools’ drop down button you will find different tools which you can use in your screenshot to make it more expressive like if you want to point out something, then you can use arrows, if you want to add text to the screenshot to explain anything then you can use the Text tool. Similarly, there are different tools present under the Tools section which you can use easily. You can also access these tools without going to the Tools section as they are present on the left side of the window as well.



Help: This section is there to help you with tips and with all the latest updates of the software.



Skitch is an advanced, yet simple to use screen capturing tool with useful features. This lightweight program is just 38MB and gives you what you need in a good screenshot tool. Though it is not comparable to advanced screenshot tools like Snagit – which are shareware, it is highly recommended as a alternative screenshot tool for Windows users.
