Give Windows 7 The Windows 10 Dark Theme Look
« on: February 18, 2015, 04:30:54 AM »

Already rocking the Windows 10 Technical Preview? Love the talk of a dark theme coming to the OS? Have friends, families and foes, still running the classic Windows 7?

Microsoft is said to be developing a sleek dark look for its upcoming operating system, but this dark theme is not yet available in the preview builds that have made their way out of Redmond up until now. However, users can still give this new interface style a try.

Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users.

Without actually deploying the new operating system.

This third-party theme that goes by the name of Windows 10 TP Black Aero for Windows 7 brings the user interface elements of the upcoming OS on your Windows 7 computer — complete with borderless windows and even a redesigned Start Menu.

Designed by DeviantArt user cu88, this theme requires the UXTheme patch to be installed, which modifies the system files to make way for custom themes on previous versions of Windows.

Pretty safe technique, just search for it and deploy.

Then copy the contents of the “Theme” folder into Resources > Themes in your Windows directory, and then activate it via the personalize panel in Windows 7.

It’s not the real thing, but close enough.

Until Microsoft officially releases the dark look on Windows 10.
