Windows Cloud Could Be Here By 2020, Offered For Free
« on: May 09, 2015, 04:23:49 AM »
WZor is back with his steady supply of inside intelligence. This time around the Russian leaker has provided hints about Windows Cloud, as well as Microsoft’s long-term plans for their platform.

And of course, claims that Windows 10.1 is expected in 2016.

But while that is simply an update to the upcoming operating system which itself will debut sometimes in July or August this year, what happens beyond that is somewhat of an enigma — what kind of a roadmap Redmond has in place?

Well, if we are to trust these latest reports, it appears that in addition to these updates that will be released on a yearly basis, the software titan is working on something big.

New version that are based entirely in the cloud.

Again, here’s the tweet, in Russian:

Not the first time we’ve heard about such a plan, with Microsoft working on something similar to the popular Office 365 solution that is based in the cloud and available with a subscription.

Some have called it Windows Cloud, others have labelled it Windows 365.

A version like this might still be on the table, but Redmond has not confirmed anything of this sorts up until now. But if we go by this new development, Windows Cloud is what Microsoft will end up calling this solution, which will be offered completely free of charge to users.

Projected launch date is 2020, as stated above.

Given that we are talking 5 years into the future here, it’s best to file this as deep rumors for now. We probably will not hear anything official about this move for the next couple of years, if at all.

In the meantime, all eyes are on Windows 10, which itself is shaping up to be quite a revolution.
