Windows 7 Users Are The Main Priority For Windows 10
« on: May 13, 2015, 05:26:30 PM »
Microsoft is slowly opening up about how they want to go about their new operating system. For the software titan, Windows 7 users now are the primary target, and rightly so.

This was revealed by Joe Belfiore, the vice president of the OS group at the company.

No surprises here, as it was clear from the start that for Windows 10, Redmond set out to create an experience that while modern, was more like the one offered by Windows 7, currently the world’s most popular desktop operating system.

Belfiore explained at BUILD 2015 in late April that the software titan wants to move the majority of these users to the new platform once it launches in the summer:

Quote
“There are more of them. We are concerned with both, but the higher volume of people are the Windows 7 people, and the Windows 8 people are more likely to be tech enthusiasts and more adaptable.

But we’ve heard feedback from touch users on Windows 8, and there’s more work that we’re doing. The priority for us is Windows 7 users because there are more of them, and a lot of those people feel that Windows 8 was not for them. We need them to think that we’re trying to build a product that is for them.”
Hardly surprising, as I said.

Targeting Windows 8 users would be preaching to the converted. But that said, the company is ensuring that there are improvements and enhancements to the modern environment in Windows 10.

Along with a multitude of new (and returning) features.

We’ll just have to wait and see if Windows 7 users find the new operating system a proper replacement for their current setup. Hopefully all will be clear come the end of the year.
