At MWC 2016 in Barcelona today, Huawei just introduced its new Windows 10 device, the MateBook. The company’s new device is its take on Microsoft’s Surface devices. The device comes with a beautiful, all-metal design — however, the device will be available in 4 different colors. The device is only 6.99mm thick and weighs only 640 grams (that’s lighter than the Surface Pro 4). The device has a 12-inch 2K IPS display (84% screen to body ratio). According to Huawei, the display colors are much nicer than the Surface Pro 4’s display, as well as the iPad Pro.
Additionally, the device will also support the sixth-gen Intel Core M CPUs, including the m3, m5, and m7. For the storage, Huawei is including 64GB of internal storage. As for the battery, the MateBook includes a 4430mAh battery.
The MateBook will also come with a dock, similar to the Surface Dock which will provide more ports such as HDMI, more USB ports, etc. The device also comes with a Pen called the Mate Pen and it works similar to the Surface Pen, too. The MatePen also has some cool shortcuts, such as the ability to quickly open OneNote — again, similar to the Surface Pen.
The MateBook will be available later this year starting at $699 (up to $1599). The pen that works with the MateBook is called the MatePen, and that will be available for $59 while the keyboard will be available for $129 and the dock will be available for $89 later this year.
