Whisking us back to Hyrule Kingdom in a massive scale adventure, the debut trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, features lavish landscapes that include lush grassy plains, deserts, oceans and vast mountain ranges as far as the eye can see – visions of an absolutely huge open world that sets the scale for a game as grand and with as many feels as Ocarina of Time gave us when it was first released.

In the new game our hero Link wakes up in his pants to face a ruined world, armed with his trusty bow and basic sword to pick off the assorted foes he can pretty much explore anywhere we want him too thanks to a new set of skills including shield surfing, rock wall and tree climbing as well as hang-gliding and tree chopping to create makeshift bridges – and of course, there will be swimming involved and Link’s faithful steed Epona will be back for a ride too. Other abilities can be unlocked by changing Link’s outfits and different coloured tunics offer various skills and levels of protection against attacks (yes he does get dressed!)

Another new and interesting addition to the game will be that players will go hunting boar and other wildlife and foraging for food such as mushrooms and fruit – this instead of filling up the traditional heart containers, and we will have the choice of eating raw foods of cooking food for replenishing varying levels of health. A quick fix for raw food and a larger energy boost for taking the time to cook up a nice meal. As if we weren’t planning to spend enough time immersed in this game! Zelda is Life, yo.

Nintendo is going all out with showcasing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild over at E3 this week and it might just be the saving grace for the Wii U. But hopefully it’s not too late.

So much to tell, but just watch the trailer – We’re sure you have, so just watch it again. That Master Sword though.
