Reportedly. Rumors had been circulating that Microsoft plans to being the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update rollout more or less a week after the launch of the update on PCs.

Which was on August 2, as you may recall.

This strategy of leaving mobile devices behind one more time did again cause frustrations amongst the community, but the good news is that the software titan is working on making this first wave of Redstone available to mobile users at full speed.

So much so that another report now claims that Redmond will indeed release the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update this week — on August 9, to be specific.

Admittedly, that will only be for unlocked phones.

And that is because Microsoft has decided to roll out this new version of the mobile OS separately for unlocked and carrier-locked devices, with the unlocked models getting the Anniversary Update first and carrier phones getting it one week later.

On August 16, it is being claimed.

The reason for this is that carriers and wireless networks need a little extra time to test the final version of the Anniversary Update before rolling it out to users.

Then again, they have had a chance to do so for a while now, as build 14393 has been out for quite some time.

Regardless, Microsoft is working to bring the Anniversary Update to smartphones as soon as possible, and despite this small delay, the company seems to have moved in quite fast this time to get the final bits to users.

One week, or two, are quite manageable, in the grand scheme of things.
