Remix OS Brings Android Marshmallow To Windows 10
« on: September 18, 2016, 06:38:48 PM »
Continuing on with our trips to foreign lands, this time there is news from the world of Android, as Remix OS is now available as a virtual machine for Windows 10 users.

This follows the WhatsApp strategy of baking in iOS icons for Windows 10 Mobile users.

However, this new development is a tad more important, as those on Microsoft’s platform now have access to an OS based on Android Marshmallow that runs on x86 PCs — up until now competing emulators mostly rely on Android Lollipop.

But Jide, the developers behind this solution, have been very active in the endeavor, having updated the Remix OS to version 3.0 back in July.

This latest refresh allows users the advantage of multi-window, as well as keyboard mapping and support for mouse and trackpads. All in a robust and easy to use environment that works much more fluent than say BlueStacks, another popular Android emulator for Windows.

Of course, this solution is based on the Android-x86 open source project, an initiative started by a group of volunteer developers that want to port Google’s mobile operating system to run on AMD and Intel processors.

Meaning, even though a lot of hard work is involved, things are finally stable enough for most users.

So if you have been planning to run Android side by side on your Windows 10 system, on PCs or tablets, and get access to all the apps that are available on the Google Play Store, this should be worth a try.
