Surface Pro 5 Launch Now Set For Q1 2017

An interesting new report has, well, surfaced, for the lack of a better word, claiming to know a thing or two about the Surface Pro 5 launch, which we know is due next year.

But apparently, Microsoft is thinking to unleash this new tablet in the first quarter of 2017.

And on top of that, the premium tablet will also sport an ultra HD display.

The fact that Redmond might be targeting a Q1 2017 launch has been in the news for a while. Both the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book have now aged a bit now, and users have been anticipating next generation hardware for a few months.

And now, this report, citing sources from China, claims that the Surface Pro 5 could arrive with an ultra HD display and magnetic charging Surface Pen. Production duties will solely be handled by Pegatron, but it seems that Microsoft also discussed getting Quanta Computer on board for production.

No word if an agreement has been reached here or not.

While obviously, it’s hard to verify these claims, the report does make sense on some levels, particularly now that Redmond decided to delay the launch of these new machines.

Originally it was believed that Microsoft would debut the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 exactly one year after the launch of their predecessor, sometimes in October 2016. But it made a decision to delay the launch in order to add in some extra hardware and software tweaks.

Now, with the second wave of the Redstone upgrade set for arrival in the form of the Creators Update, it is quite possible that we are nearing the expansion of the Surface family.

Fingers very firmly crossed.
