Appropriate for a hardware giant of its size and stature, Dell had a busy week at CES 2017. And with the Dell Latitude 7285, the week got even busier, as this interesting little Windows 10 2-in-1 went official.
This is meant for business users and professionals, as the Latitude line suggest.
And this Surface Pro style device comes with several interesting little additions, including what the company calls the ultimate no wires experience. That is because the machine comes with WiTricity magnetic resonance wireless charging capabilities.
The future is here, folks!
So much so that Dell bills this as the world’s most versatile 2-in1. Goes nicely with another claim of the world’s most secure 2-in-1 that the company reserved for the Latitude 5285 very recently.
But there’s good cause for this, as Dell explains the advantages of wireless charging for this device:
“That means you can move quickly between meetings without the hassle of hooking up power cords and other cables at every stop. Grab the Latitude 7285 2-in-1 and immediately walk away from your desk without disengaging any wires or a physical dock. Return to your desk, set the Latitude 2-in-1 on the power mat, and your PC will begin charging immediately.”
On top of that, this Windows 10 tablet comes with three detachable keyboard options — the slim and light Travel Keyboard for maximum portability, the Productivity Keyboard that adds up to four hours of extra battery life, and the Wireless Charging Keyboard base.
And the device is no slouch when it comes to hardware specifications, either.
It comes with a 12.3-inch display with a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels and Gorilla Glass 4 protection, to go with the latest 7th generation Intel Kaby Lake processors, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB SSD, an 8 MP rear camera, a 720p front one, with support for Windows Hello facial recognition.
And the usual set of security, connectivity and networking options like WiFi, Miracast, Bluetooth, USB Type-C, Thunderbolt, TPM 2.0, WiGig docking and so on.
Stylus support is optional, and a 34WHr battery keeps the 2-in-1 running steadily.
While pricing details are still missing, Dell has confirmed that it will provide more information about the device in May. A long way off, some may believe, but this certainly looks like a device worth waiting for, particularly for user on the move.
