Feeling an urge to splurge? Few better ways to spend large amounts of cash than the Book One, the latest launch from Porsche Design. This is, as you can see, a new Windows 10 detachable.

Feeling an urge to splurge? Few better ways to spend large amounts of cash than the Book One, the latest launch from Porsche Design. This is, as you can see, a new Windows 10 detachable.

The company announced this fancy new Windows 10 PC today at the Mobile World Congress.

It’s a convertible laptop with a detachable display — a concept not far from what Microsoft has in store for buyers with the Surface Book.

There is, however, one key difference here, and that is in the display. This 13.3-inch machine has a screen resolution of 3200 x 1800, which makes for an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Surface Book, in contrast, has a 3:2 aspect ratio at 3000 x 2000.

But just like the Surface Book, the Book One also has an option for a discrete GPU.

It uses an Intel Core i7-7500U Kaby Lake processor, which certainly gives it a bit of a leg up on the Skylake that powers the Surface Book. Another thing lacking in the Microsoft machine that this Porsche Design one has is two USB Type-C ports.

Two USB Type-A ports are also available.

Rounding up the specifications, we have 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD.

And in terms of design, another thing this device has going for it is that there is no gap in the hinge. This is something that the Surface Book suffers from, but has been solved here.

This new PC will be available in Germany in April for €2,795, while the US price has been set at $2,495.

The company also plans to launch the Book One in other countries from Porsche Design Stores and specialist retailers. It certainly looks like a neat little device, but the expensive price means that it will remain a bit of a niche product.
