Microsoft Tablets Miles Ahead Of The Competition
« on: April 09, 2017, 06:40:44 PM »
Well, not exactly miles ahead, but Microsoft tablets have carved out a nice little segment of the market now, users seeking the ultimate in productivity choosing the Surface line of devices.

And they love them for it.

JD Power have released their 2017 tablet satisfaction survey, confirming first place for hardware from Redmond — ahead of both Apple and Samsung. Microsoft was awarded 855 points for its Surface tablets, while the other two companies were close enough with 849 and 847 points respectively.

Out of a possible 1,000 points, that is.

The Surface line topped the charts when it comes to factors like the variety of preloaded applications, internet connectivity, availability of manufacturer supported accessories.

While Microsoft also got the best score for having a wide variety of input and output connectivity, the amount of internal storage built into the device, the overall size of tablet itself, as well as the quality of materials and the overall attractiveness of the design.

But more than that, this research has shown that Microsoft attracts younger customers than its rivals, with a large number of buyers picking Surface because it is very important for their jobs.

In the words of Jeff Conklin, vice president of service industries at J.D. Power:

Quote
"The Microsoft Surface platform has expanded what tablets can do, and it sets the bar for customer satisfaction. These tablet devices are just as capable as many laptops, yet they can still function as standard tablets. This versatility is central to their appeal and success.”
When it comes to productivity, 90% of Surface owners say that they use their devices for web browsing, emailing, word processing and mobile payments. This, in contrast to the industry average of 75%.

Other statistical highlights include 48% of Surface users using a stylus, compared to a 27% industry average, 51% using a physical keyboard, as opposed to just 14%, and 27% using a mouse, against an industry average of only 6%.

And on top of all that, Surface also earned higher customer satisfaction than its rival tablets, with Surface owners also more likely to be early adopters of new technology.

Pretty neat wins for Microsoft here in this study, the full details of which you can collect from here.
