Anniversary Update Running On Over 90% Of Windows 10 PCs
« on: March 22, 2017, 06:16:29 PM »
End of fragmentation, more or less? Microsoft has struggled with software fragmentation in the past, but with Windows 10 Anniversary Update running on a substantial 91.2% of PCs, things are now fine.

As fine as they can be, ahead of the launch of the Creators Update next month.

The latest statistics from AdDuplex show that adoption of the Anniversary Update version of the OS is going strong — strong enough that 9 out of 10 Windows 10 PCs are already rocking this particular flavor of the operating system, also known as version 1607.

The advertising network reveals that while the adoption of the Anniversary Update started slowly in the first couple of months of availability, the install base jumped from 35% to 80% in just 30 days.

As AdDuplex notes:

Quote
"As you can see, Anniversary Update started slowly and was installed on less than 35 percent of PCs two months in. But then floodgates opened and it jumped to close to 80 percent in a month.”

Good sign for Microsoft that an overwhelming majority of users have performed the update to the latest version of the OS that is currently on the market.

Windows 10 version 1511 is listed in second place in these charts, coming in at 6%, while the original RTM version of the operating system has 2% next to its name. The Creators Update preview builds, for those of you interested, have been deployed by 0.9% of the systems tallied.

Of course, these dynamics are sure to change after April 11, when the rollout of the Creators Update officially takes place.

As of this writing, the development of this update, also known as Redstone 2, is in the final stages, with users enrolled in the Windows Insider Program testing out the bits ahead of launch.

Roll on April!
