Microsoft today announced that the company is aligning the release of Windows and Office feature releases to help its enterprise customers. The software giant will now release two feature releases every year for Windows and Office. The company is planning to release the first update for Windows and Office in March every year, while the second update is targeted for September release.

Because of the new schedule, Microsoft will be delivering the next major feature release for Windows 10 later this year. In addition to Office and Windows, Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager will support the new update model, making it easier for IT Pros and businesses to deploy latest updates of Windows and Office.

Microsoft also confirmed today that each feature release for both Windows and Office will be supported and serviced for 1.5 years or 18 months. This isn’t anything new for Windows 10 — in fact, Microsoft is already set to drop support for the first version of Windows 10 next month.
