Windows 10 build 16212 for both PC and Mobile recently got released due to a system error. This build version was never intended to go out to Windows Insiders and caused various issues that impact the usability of PCs and phones.

Up until recently, it appeared that build 16212 affected only Insiders. However, recent reports confirm that build 16212 also attempts to install on non-Insider PCs via Windows Update.

More specifically, Windows Update tries to install the following updates:  16212.1001.rs_edge_case.170531-2234 (UUP-CTv2) and 15063.2.rs2_release_svc_d.170531-1743 (UUP-CTv2. As a quick reminder, build 15063 was released back in March. This is a very strange Windows Update behavior indeed.

Here’s how one user describes this problem:

Quote
So, I'm not an Insider and yet I'm pushed to download a new update called 16212.1001.rs_edge_case.170531-2234 (UUP-CTv2), which gave me an Error 0x80246019. What’s this update? From what I've heard this is a rogue or bad update. How do I get rid of it?

Update: And now Windows Update pushed another strange update called  15063.2.rs2_release_svc_d.170531-1743 (UUP-CTv2) which also failed. What’s going on?
The good news is that these two strange updates fail to install. Nevertheless, the best way to prevent them from installing is to pause Windows Update. For more information on how to temporarily prevent an update from reinstalling Windows 10, check out Microsoft’s support page.

I was "invited" to install WIN10.v1703b15063.332, which I have done and all seems ok.
I have a non-Insider PC.
