AMD today announced pricing and availability details of Ryzen 3 and Ryzen Threadripper desktop processors. Ryzen Threadripper is a “Zen”-based CPU with up to 16-cores and 32-threads with a new platform with expanded memory and I/O bandwidth, designed for the High-End Desktop (HEDT) market and it will compete with Intel Core i9 series. Initially, there will be two processors in this series: Ryzen Threadripper 1950X and Ryzen Threadripper 1920X.

Ryzen Threadripper 1950X comes with 16 cores and 32 threads, but it also delivers a 3.4 GHz base clock and a 4.0 GHz boost. AMD has priced the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X at USD $999, it is $700 less than the equivalent Intel Core i9-7960X chip. And the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X, which packs 12 cores and 24 threads, a 3.5 GHz base clock, and a 4.0 GHz boost, is price at USD $799, $400 less than Intel’s Core i9-7920X. Also, both the 1950X and 1920X features 64 lanes of PCIe with support for up to four GPUs and they are unlocked for overclocking.  Both Ryzen Threadripper processors will be on available in early August 2017.



AMD Ryzen 3 is a mainstream desktop processor that will be offered at an affordable price point. The Ryzen 3 1300X CPU comes with four cores, with a base clock of 3.5 GHz and boost to 3.7 GHz, and the Ryzen 3 1200 CPU comes with four cores and with a base clock of 3.1 GHz and boost to 3.4 GHz. Both the processors will be available from July 27th.
