Microsoft is known in the industry for its innovative nature. Earlier this year, the company introduced a new model through which it hopes to improve and revolutionize the servicing model that the company offers for its clients. This move has been recently scheduled to hit the business spectrum as well and this got many up in a bunch. Many companies are unsure of what success they can count on if they are to receive Windows support through Microsoft’s newly revamped pipeline.

How Microsoft plans to release Windows content now

It’s been a little bit now since Microsoft first introduced this new plan and it’s quite simple to dissect. Basically, instead of releasing a ton of new updates that would stress out user’s capability of adapting to a completely new Windows experience every so often, the Windows maker is shifting to a 2 release per year plan. This means that there would be two major releases per year and a lot more mini releases monthly. The latter category would have the duty of providing security updates and fixing bugs found in the previous build.

The Windows Insiders Program

The Windows Insiders Program is probably one of the best things that have ever happened to Microsoft. That is because it allows the company to fully test and evaluate a build before it reaches a broad audience. There are several steps to go through before a new build reaches the general public.

It is first tested internally by a small group of engineers, after which it is passed along to a closed circle of Microsoft employees. After spending some time in this department, a build is then made available to the Windows users on the Insiders testing platform. There are millions of people ready to test any new build Microsoft throws at them, meaning that there will be plenty of feedback. Once a build makes it through the Insiders phase, it is then presented to the general public.

There are a lot of advantages to be had with this business model, one of the most important ones being the fact that users will always know ahead of release what to expect from the newest Windows build. This makes it a lot easier to adapt to each new build and the fact that there are only two major releases per year makes it a lot easier for everyone in terms of applications, services, and compatibility issues.

Getting down to business

The business sector is going to get access to the Insiders platform as well. This comes as a massive benefit for businesses and organizations. Although it might seem a bit confusing at first, companies will soon come to terms with the fact that the new business model from Microsoft will also count them among those who benefit from it.
