This usually happens after a computer virus infection. If you cannot find Microsoft Edge in your list of apps or shortcuts, there are a few things that you can do to see whether the program is still available.

Step 1: End the processes associated with Edge. Start task manager and look for a process called
MicrosoftEdge.exe and end it. If you can’t find it, it means that the program is not running, hence move on to the next step.
Step 2: Open up
File Explorer, click View and then check Hidden items box to view all hidden folders. This is required as some folders like AppData are hidden by default.

Step 4: Delete a folder named “
Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe”. You can find it by pressing
Ctrl + F and pasting the name of the package.
It might take awhile before the folder is found. After about 10 minutes, a pop-up window will authenticate your request by asking if you are sure if you are sure about deleting the folder permanently.
Not all of the files in the folder can be deleted. You need to skip the files in order for the process to go on. Just skip any of the files that bring about errors during deletion.
Step 5: Since you need the changes to be recognized by the system, close the active windows and restart the PC. Some programs like MS Word keep the computer from rebooting until you save the progress or force restart.
Step 6: Go to the start menu and search for
PowerShell. Launch PowerShell as administrator by right-clicking on it and selecting the “
Run as an administrator” option.
Step 7: You now need to navigate to the root folder of your user account. PowerShell will be working from here. To access the folder with PowerShell, type in the following code and replace “
yourusername” with your account user name.
cd C:usersyourusername
Step 8: All you need now is to enter the following code into PowerShell. To do so, just copy it from here and paste it into PowerShell… or just type it.
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}
After another restart of your computer, you should now be able to use the Microsoft Edge browser without any issues.
