Microsoft has been testing a couple of Windows 10 Redstone 4 builds with some Windows Insiders part of Skip Ahead over the past month or so. The company has released some early Redstone 4 builds of Windows 10 to Windows Insiders in Skip Ahead, but most of these builds didn’t include any significant new changes.
Apart from some new Fluent Design effects for the Start Menu, there hasn’t been any other notable changes in Windows 10 with the latest Redstone 4 builds so far.
But these Redstone 4 builds have only been available to users part of Skip Ahead, which was limited to only some Windows Insiders who were early enough to join the group. And now, Microsoft might be bringing the Redstone 4 builds to the mass, with the release of new Redstone 4 build for all Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring. Right now, Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring can get the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update RTM build (16299.15). And they will be able to start testing the next Windows 10 update once and if Microsoft releases a new Redstone 4 build tomorrow.
On the Windows Mixed Reality Developer Forum, a Microsoft spokesperson warned Windows Mixed Reality developers to switch to the Release Preview ring in Windows 10 as they “may begin to receive RS4 builds” beginning October 10. This obviously doesn’t mean we will definitely get a new Redstone 4 build tomorrow in the Fast Ring, but there’s still a high possibility.
“For those of you developing VR experiences for the new Windows Mixed Reality immersive headsets, we have an important message: if you stay in the Windows Insider Fast ring, beginning October 10, 2017 you may begin to receive RS4 builds, which will not be the most stable builds for mixed reality development.”
