Windows 10 is set to get two feature updates in 2018. Microsoft has already started working on the first of the two, codenamed Redstone 4. The company today released a new Redstone 4 build to the majority of the Windows Insiders for the first time ever, and it’s launching a new Cortana feature for those in the United States.
Cortana is getting a new Collections feature that will allow you to save things you browse online for later very easily. The feature will be integrated into Microsoft Edge, and it’ll automatically be able to detect when you are browsing things like books, shopping for new clothes, looking for nearby restaurants, or watching the trailer of a movie. From there, you can save that particular item into your Cortana Collections with a single click of a button and be able to access them from your Windows 10 device and your phone via Cortana:
VIDEO Microsoft is also improving the way Cortana works with the Windows 10 Action Center with the release of Redstone 4. The company is moving Cortana’s intelligent insights and recommendations to the Action Center, which will apparently free up the user-interface of Cortana for other things like tips and tricks. Windows 10 displays the insights from Cortana both on the Action Center and Cortana itself, which is a bit pointless. In build 17017, Microsoft is completely disabling Cortana’s proactive content and it will be coming back to the Action center with a future update for Windows Insiders.
Cortana Collections definitely looks like a very intriguing feature, especially if Microsoft Edge is your daily browser. The feature will arrive for regular Windows 10 users with the Windows 10 Redstone 4 release sometime around March/April 2018.
