Surface Pro, Book, and Pro 3 all getting new driver updates
« on: October 21, 2017, 05:45:56 PM »

Microsoft is releasing firmware and driver updates for a wide range of its Surface devices today. Along with the first major update for the Surface Laptop, there are also new drivers rolling out to the new Surface Pro, Surface Book, and Surface Pro 3.

The Surface Pro M1796 got the widest range of fixes and features, and it's for all versions of Windows 10. In other words, you should see these whether you're on the Creators Update or the Fall Creators Update. Here's the full changelog:

According to the Value Indicator chart, these improve compatibility, performance, and battery life, with no effect on security, reliability, and connectivity. You can download the full bundle of drivers here.

The Surface Book only got one update, which isn't surprising given that it got a whole range of fixes a week ago. It's only for users on the Fall Creators Update. Here's what's new:

This update should improve performance and battery life, with no effect on security, reliability, connectivity, and compatibility. You can download the update here.

Finally, although it hasn't seen anything new since August, the Surface Pro 3 got a pair of updates. Here's what got fixed:

The updates should improve battery life, with no effect on security, reliability, connectivity, compatibility, or performance. You can download the bundle here, and it's for all versions of Windows 10. If your Pro 3 is still on Windows 8.1, then you haven't seen an update in almost a year, and that isn't changing.

Of course, you don't have to install any of these manually. Head over to Settings -> Updates & security -> Windows Update -> Check for updates, and Windows 10 will take care of the rest.
