Sony brings a PlayStation VR game to Windows Mixed Reality
« on: November 07, 2017, 03:21:47 AM »
Who would have thought one of the first supporters of Windows Mixed Reality would be Sony.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Inc. has brought a PlayStation VR title, Ghostbusters VR – Now Hiring Chapter 1, to the Windows Store for Windows Mixed Reality.

The game takes you to the iconic Ghostbusters firehouse, where you’ll meet Mooglie for the first time and get up close and personal with everyone’s favorite troublemaker, Slimer.

Your adventure begins outside the firehouse in the streets of New York where Mooglie volunteers to be your guide. As you enter the firehouse, you’ll have the chance to explore Ecto-1, assemble and fire a proton pack, check out the basement where the Ghost Containment Unit lies, play with Slimer and much more!

Don’t leave any stone unturned as ghostly surprises await your discovery.

The mystery of the Sony PlayStation VR game for Windows Mixed Reality solved

We posted recently on the arrival of Sony PlayStation VR title Ghostbusters VR – Now Hiring Chapter 1 coming to the Windows Mixed Reality platform, a somewhat odd occurrence given that the platform is still very small meaning Sony was not compelled in any way to support the competing platform.

It now appears we have Acer to thank for bringing the title to the store.

In an interview on YouTube Peter Wood, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Senior Vice President Digital Distribution explained that they had partnered with Acer for some months now to bring to the title to the MR platform and that they considered it to be one of the first big brand IP on the platform.

The adaptation meant the ported title would use the unique features of the platform and offer a unique user experience.

He promised it would be the start of a long business relationship.
