Thanks to the Switch Console Nintendo Sales Are Unprecedented
« on: December 19, 2017, 03:15:23 AM »
Just last week we learned that the Nintendo sold 10 million units of the Nintendo Switch gaming tablet over the past 9 months. That’s surely a record, one that ties the PS4’s initial sales, but the games also sold very well. So much so that Nintendo now claims that its sales are unprecedented.

And all of that is happening with a console that’s not even one year old, which is mighty impressive. The Switch is already very close to beating the Wii U’s lifetime sales. The Japanese firm apparently didn’t even predict such as success. In an interview with CNN Tech, Nintendo of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aime was quoted saying that all this performance is unprecedented for the company.

The official also reminded everyone that the impressive sales happened even before the holiday time frame. He claims the sales pace is faster than in all of the company’s history and the whole gaming history. Portability seems to have been key, according to the same Nintendo representative and also the dual usage of the device: both docked and portable. Titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is rated as one of the best games of 2017.

Super Mario Odyssey also did well, selling 2 million copies in 3 days after its release. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Switch is able to past 12 million units by the way it turns one year old, or even 15 million. Next year should bring us a few fresh ports and unique releases for the console and more developers are jumping on the bandwagon.
