Huawei confirms the Mate 10 will come to U.S. carriers in 2018
« on: December 19, 2017, 02:42:39 PM »
For the past couple of years, Huawei has done an excellent job of penetrating the U.S. market by offering its phones through retailers like Amazon and Best Buy.

Looking to have a better presence, the firm has openly discussed in the past its plans to partner with wireless carriers in the United States. As we approach the new year, it looks like Huawei has now confirmed that it will be indeed partnering with U.S. wireless carriers in 2018.

Speaking with ABC News, Richard Yu, who is the president of Huawei Technologies, stated that during CES 2018, the company will announce details of bringing the Mate 10 to wireless carriers. Yu wasn't clear about pricing, but did state that it would be "competitively priced".

It is also unclear whether it will be arriving on one carrier first or if it will receive multi-carrier support from the get-go. If earlier leaks are to be believed, AT&T could be one of the first carriers to be partnering with Huawei.

Although availability at a carrier is a great thing, it doesn't necessarily mean that the carrier will push the handset more than it would an Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy device. This will certainly be a great first step for Huawei, but it will still have to do quite a bit of work in order to gain wider brand recognition.
