« on: October 08, 2018, 12:04:06 PM »

Intel has announced that they are live streaming their 2018 Desktop Launch tomorrow at 10 am EST via the Intel Newsroom.  The details are vague other than that they are announcing the "latest PC performance developments from Intel."

Leaks last month indicated that a new Intel Z390 chipset was ready to be released. This week, more leaks were found online as Newegg started to list Z390 motherboards from Gigabyte ranging in price from $212 to $279.

Also expected to be announced is the release of Intel's 9th generation CPUs that have been leaked online through various Intel support documents, leaked marketing material, and prices found online.

According to TrustedReviews.com, the expected LGA1151 CPUs are:

• Intel Core i9-9900K (8 cores, 16 threads, speeds currently unknown, 95W TDP)

• Intel Core i7-9700K (6 cores, 12 threads, speeds currently unknown, 95W TDP)

• Intel Core i5-9600K (6 cores, 6 threads, 3.7GHz / 4.5GHz Turbo, 95W TDP)

• Intel Core i5-9600 (6 cores, 6 threads, 3.1GHz / 4.3GHz Turbo, 65W TDP)

• Intel Core i5-9500 (6 cores, 6 threads, 3.0GHz / 4.1GHz Turbo, 65W TDP)

• Intel Core i5-9400 (6 cores, 6 threads, 2.9GHz / 4.1GHz Turbo, 65W TDP)

• Intel Core i3-9100 (4 cores, 4 threads, 3.7GHz, 65W TDP)

• Intel Core i3-9000 (4 cores, 4 threads, 3.7GHz, 65W TDP)

• Intel Core i3-9000T (4 cores, 4 threads, 3.2GHz, 35W TDP)

Prices online indicate that the i5-9600K will cost around $350, the i7-9700K will cost around $530, and the i9-9900K will cost around $650.

At this time no information is available if these new CPUs will resolve the Spectre & Meltdown vulnerabilities that have plagued Intel CPUs this year.
