Samsung is set to launch their Samsung Galaxy F folding smartphone at their Unpacked event on the 20th February 2019. Huawei CEO Richard Yu recently mentioned that Huawei will also reveal its foldable smartphone at MWC press event this year.

Today, Huawei Mobile’s official Twitter account posted the above image to confirm the foldable device launch and the launch will happen on the 24th of this month. This upcoming device will be sold in the Mate series and will be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 980 processor and Balong 5000 5G modem. Besides the processor, which has been earlier confirmed, the new picture confirms that the device will have an outward-facing screen, likely with a relatively large fold radius, as in the render below.

This should mean overall a cheaper, easier to produce a device which will be able to compete aggressively with Samsung’s Galaxy F foldable.
