Microsoft posts HoloLens 2.0 teaser video
« on: February 11, 2019, 01:14:41 PM »
Microsoft is expected to show off the HoloLens 2.0 at Mobile World Congress 2019 in a few weeks.

Today Alex Kipman, the head the HoloLens team, posted a teaser video for the event, alluding the new Holographic Processing Unit and its ability to turn the real world into a series of polygons which could then be manipulated.

We already know the next HoloLens will have an improved Holographic Processing Unit with more AI capabilities, and an improved Kinect-like depth camera.  It will reportedly be powered by the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 processor, which has been designed with the express purpose of delivering a “high quality” VR and AR experience and will likely feature 5G connectivity, explaining the MWC appearance. It will also address issues that held back HoloLens 1, including a larger field of view and longer battery life.
