Todayís system software update for the PlayStation 4 finally brings official remote play to iOS devices. The update allows owners of both the console and an iOS device to play their PlayStation 4 games remotely.

A new app, PS4 Remote Play, has also been released for free on the Apple App Store. The app requires iOS 12.1 or later to function.

Players can use the app to display their PlayStation 4ís screen on their iOS device, use their device as a controller, join voice chats, and enter text using the deviceís keyboard.

Along with a compatible iOS device, youíll also need a PlayStation 4 console with the latest software update, a PlayStation Network account, and a reliable home WiFi network.

The notes for the PS4 Remote Play app state that it may not be compatible with all PlayStation 4 titles. Also, DUALSHOCK 4 controllers arenít supported, and the app it canít be used with mobile data.

The App Store notes also recommend an iPhone 7, 6th-generation iPad, 2nd generation iPad Pro, or any later devices. Older devices arenít officially recommended but may still work.

The latest system software update (version 6.50) for the PlayStation 4 is available now. Other features of update 6.50 include 720p broadcasting when using Niconico Live. You can now also change the button assignment to perform ĎEnterí operations from the O button to the X button.
