As we all know Google is working on a foldable smartphone. The company recently bought displays from Samsung for the very same reason. But we didn’t get to see what it actually looks like, until now.

As first spotted by Patently Mobile, a recent patent filed by Google suggests that its foldable smartphone will be an innie like the Galaxy Fold and unlike Huawei’s Mate X. But unlike the Galaxy Fold, Google’s folding phone is designed keeping simplicity in mind. When folded, it looks a lot like Microsoft Surface Book laptops. That’s right, it has a space between the two sides of the display. However, not much information is available regarding whether it will have a Surface-like hinge or not.

It is also noteworthy that patent not always translates to a product, in fact, it is otherwise oftentimes. Google can cancel the design and can start to work with a slightly different design. Nonetheless, we will see Google revealing its foldable smartphone soon but with which form factor it comes out would be something interesting to see. Meanwhile, Google will continue to work on its foldable smartphone for better output alongside making Android more responsive to foldable design.
