The Chromium powered Microsoft Edge is no longer restricted to people who’ve managed to acquire the app one way or the other. The Redmond giant has today announced that the new Microsoft Edge is now available for all the users running Windows 10. All those wanting to install the browser right now will have to be a Microsoft Edge Insider.
Talking about Insider, here you’ll find three release channels, much like the Windows Insider program. However, the naming convention followed here is different as it should be. You have three channels namely Canary Channels for daily updates, Dev Channels for weekly updates, and Beta channels for an update in every six weeks. To put this into perspective, if you really want to test this out and don’t want random crashes, the Beta channel is the best bet while Canary and the Dev channels are of high and moderate risk respectively.
And now some bad news. The Chromium-based Edge is still not available on other platforms like Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, and Mac. If you are on any of these platforms, you can sign-up on the Microsoft Edge Insider website to be notified when builds are ready for your device and O.S.
