Following the release of Windows 10 May 2019 Update in the Windows Insider Release Preview Ring last week, app developers can now download the Windows 10 18362 SDK in its final form. The SDK is compatible with both Visual Studio 2017 and Visual Studio 2019, the latest version of the IDE released earlier this month.

Microsoft has a long list of New APIs and Features for developers in this SDK on the Windows Dev Center. Highlights include the ability to access Linux files from the Windows File Explorer thanks to recent updates to the Windows Sub-system for Linux, as well as the ability to package Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) for Xbox One consoles. Windows UI Library 2.1 can also add the latest Fluent design elements and controls to their UWP apps.

Microsoft notes that Visual Studio will use this new SDK as default once the May 2019 becomes generally available next month. There’s still no exact release date, as this time Microsoft will make good use of the Release Preview ring to make sure that the latest Windows 10 update doesn’t ship with critical bugs.
