FYI: Here’s how you can get the old Twitter UI back
« on: July 27, 2019, 02:57:30 PM »

Two weeks back, Twitter rolled out the new web UI and the company received backlash from the users around the world. Just after the new UI was rolled out, users found a way to get the old Twitter UI back using cookies but it was fixed soon. Recently we covered an extension that can allow users to unclutter the new UI but it wasn’t enough to get the old UI back.

While Twitter did realize their mistake, it would take the company some time to change the UI and if you can’t wait that long, we do have a solution. A new extension called GoodTwitter has made its way to Chrome’s Web Store and Firefox’s Add-On Manager. The extension, in essence, will allow users to revert back to the old design. It doesn’t require any steps apart from just installing it and going to Twitter.com. We were able to use Chrome’s extension on Chromium-based Edge as well (Canary Channel). If you don’t see the old Twitter UI right away then make sure you clear your cache/cookies and then reload the page.

While this should work for almost everyone, if you’re one of those people who don’t trust third-party extensions then we have another solution for you. To try this out, head to Twitter.com and follow the steps below.

   ■ Click on More in the left-hand menu

   ■ Go to Settings and Privacy > About Twitter > Directory

   ■ Once the Directory opens in a new tab, click on Home on the top which should open the old UI.

This, however, is a temporary solution that will require the user to perform the same steps every time you open Twitter. That said, if you’re using a browser that doesn’t support the extension or you’re not comfortable with third-party extensions then this is the best solution to get the old Twitter UI back.
