Adobe's mixed-reality display blends digital and physical
« on: July 28, 2019, 05:48:14 PM »
Adobe has created a mixed reality display, which is capable of blending digital content and interactions with real and physical objects.

Called Project Glasswing, the display will also show you media assets created in Adobe tools such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Dimension.

And the best part is you need to reach out to your Android or iOS device to help do all of that — the mixed reality display will be able to perform without any smartphone or glasses. In other words, it’s an augmented experience without special glasses.

With Project Glasswing, you’ll be able to control the opacity of the display, letting you see objects on the other side of the display( via Cnet). Moreover, you’ll also be able to interact, reposition still or video elements.

“Project Glasswing explores the possibility of bringing Adobe’s design tools to the physical world, creating the illusion of a Photoshop, After Effects or XD layer appearing in space in front of 3D real objects,” Adobe wrote in a blog post.

“For example, in-store advertising could allow shoes to be displayed inside a window with accompanying text, graphics, and video to create a compelling experience for customers. A vending machine could use a masked video of sloshing water to augment the view of real-physical bottles of water behind it. Or imagine a museum exhibit of a rare artifact displayed in a glass case. The glass could allow a clear view of the encased item, with overlaying graphics offering information about its history,” explained Adobe.
