« on: August 18, 2019, 02:33:41 PM »
Rainbow Six Siege's next update fast approaches, packing two elite Latin American gunslingers, while revisiting a fan favorite locale.

Ubisoft continues to build upon Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, soon securing its next major expansion. Following Operation Phantom Sight, the update is headed to the Latin American underworld, falling midway through its fourth year of content.

Two new resourceful Operators lie on the horizon of Operation Ember Rise, set to shake up how defenders lock down the objective.

We've wrapped up everything we know so far about the Rainbow Six Siege's next season, ahead of its August 18 unveiling.

Operation Ember Rise release date and reveal

Ubisoft has dropped its first teaser image for Year 4 Season 3, confirming the coming update's title, Operation Ember Rise. While Ubisoft is yet to outline its Operation Ember Rise release plans, a late-summer launch is expected for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

With the Rainbow Six Raleigh Major slated for mid-August, the full breakdown of upcoming content plans wraps a week of competitive play. An official "DLC Reveal & Esports Panel" is scheduled for 1:30 PM ET (10:30 AM PT / 6:30 PM UK / 7:30 PM CET) on Sunday, August 18, ahead of the Grand Final. Given schedules for past Rainbow Six Siege Operations, expect a Technical Test Server (TTS) PC debut on August 20. Tailed by three weeks of testing to refine bugs and balancing, a full public release could occur on September 10, 2019.

Operation Ember Rise Operators: Amaru and Goyo

As with prior Rainbow Six Siege updates, the third season of 2019 drops two new playable Operators, expanding the ever-growing roster to 50 recruits. Outlined in Ubisoft's Year 4 roadmap, the latest members span independent counterterrorism units (CTUs), hailing from Mexican and Peruvian specialist forces. Expect new attacking and defending talent, sticking to a familiar seasonal template.

For those with Rainbow Six Siege's Year 4 Pass, both Operators should be available at no additional cost with the launch of the latest season. Seven days later, these Operators will be open to the public using Renown or R6 Credits.

While Ubisoft hasn't formally unveiled its upcoming Latin duo, brief teasers have surfaced throughout Year 4. Promotional assets for ringleader Harry "Six" Pandey left reference to narcotics crackdowns, singling cartel activity in each Operator's home turf. Addressing a "Crosscheck w/ Capitao anti-drug operations for common ground" and "Antiquities trafficking," it establishes a clear future expansion beyond existing lore. The same pinboard also dropped tease of Operation Phantom Sight's Nøkk and Warden, alongside remaining threads still to uncover. Ubisoft Russia since confirmed the names of both Operators, Amaru and Goyo.

Phantom Sight's Nøkk art also provided tease of unreleased gadgets, exploring the design of her cloaking device with Mira, Rainbow's new head of research and development. A chalkboard backdrop featured grappling gun concepts annotated with "Rappel!!" and "Fast   Quick," accompanied by an ignited canister, alluding to our next gadgets. These are now expected to be the "Garra Hook" and "Volcan Shield," as teased via a pre-release trailer.

Early leaks indicate this could be Season 3's Mexican defender, locking down routes with an explosive twist.

Trained in the famous Peruvian trekking trails, could this be our upcoming Season 3 attacker?

Ubisoft's early teasers back details from reputable leakster "Komora," recognized for accurate leaks on Burnt Horizon and Phantom Sight. Reports from early 2019 suggested defenders will have a "good reason to reinforce hatches on the same floor," indicative of a hatch-climbing Operator set for Year 4. An attacker equipped with a grappling hook is expected, alongside a defensive "special deployable shield" Operator, dropping a flammable canister once destroyed. We've also seen two alleged backstory art assets surface, both aligning with existing Operator leaks.

With information scarce on Rainbow Six Siege's coming season, take any leaks lightly until the final reveal. Regardless, the suggested climbing gadget could bring further verticality to existing maps and shake up site reinforcements. The rumored deployable shield also expands on an ongoing initiative to slow combat, tying with recent changes to Capitão's fire arrow physics.

Expect formal teasers for Year 4 Season 3's latest Operators during the coming weeks, wrapping with a full reveal on August 18, 2019.

Operation Ember Rise Map: Kanal rework

As seen with Operation Phantom Sight, Rainbow Six Siege's next expansion debuts the second of three map reworks slated for Year 4. The industrial docklands of Kanal next goes under the knife, refreshing its layout and palette to improve gameplay, while retaining its underlying identity. While already a favorite among the roster, widespread spawn peeking, and restrictive routes limit its current potential.

As teased at the Six Invitational in Montreal, the Hamburg-based arena will undergo a rework addressing long-standing player frustrations. A new corridor now bridges the two compounds, allowing for smoother rotations between buildings. The redesign also scales back former windows, reducing the chance of cross-map headshots.

Like previous content drops, access to the new locale will be free to all players regardless of owning the Year 4 Pass. And during the initial launch period, a dedicated Kanal Discovery playlist will serve up 24/7 access to grasp the new layout.

Operation Ember Rise balancing and fixes

The forthcoming season also opens space to address several community concerns spanning multiplayer, as outlined in a recent Ubisoft blog post. Although currently slated to launch alongside the coming season, the nature of some amendments could see delays into future mid-season patches.

   ○ Operation Ember Rise is set to debut a long-awaited change to Smoke's gas canister, tweaking
propagation to prevent phasing through walls. The recent rework to Capitão's firebolt establishes the
groundwork for the backend fix, with a visual change also on the cards.

   ○ Ubisoft has found certain weapon sights are misaligned in the current live build of Rainbow Six Siege,
sometimes throwing player aim "a few pixels off-center." With experiments underway on a fix,
secondary motion is also being trialed to improve gun presentation down-sight.

   ○ Following a recent rise of exploits primarily affecting Clash, Ubisoft will also bring a reworked kill
switch for gadgets and Operators. The change will allow developers to highlight which options are
quarantined and the underlying issues to be addressed.

Expect further Operator balancing tweaks and fixes around the reveal, providing added refinements following Operation Phantom Sight.

Prepare for Operation Ember Rise

Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 Season 3 is expected to see a full unveiling on August 18, wrapping the Six Major Raleigh 2019. Three weeks of Technical Test Server (TTS) trials will follow the mid-month event, making an early September release date likely.

In the meantime, Rainbow Six Siege is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PCs, priced at $26 on Amazon.
