Windows 10 1903 Orange Tint Screenshot Issue Addressed by Lenovo
« on: September 13, 2019, 11:28:36 AM »
Microsoft updated the status of the unnatural orange-tinted screenshots issue acknowledged yesterday to 'Resolved External' saying that it only impacts Lenovo Vantage users who installed the KB4516115 cumulative update on their Windows 10, version 1903 devices.

"When creating screenshots or using similar tools (such as Snipping Tool or Snip & Sketch), the resulting images may have an unnatural orange tint," Microsoft describes the issue.

"This issue is caused by the Eye Care mode feature of Lenovo Vantage," says the now resolved issue's Windows Release Health Dashboard entry.

Lenovo's solution

"For guidance on this issue, see the Lenovo support article Screenshots and Snips have an unnatural orange tint. There is no update for Windows needed for this issue," adds Microsoft, also mentioning that Windows update is needed to address the problem.

According to the Lenovo Vantage Knowledge Base, disabling the Eye Care mode and resetting the color temperature in the Lenovo Vantage software is enough to remove the strange orange tint from snips and screenshots.

Depending on the version of Lenovo Vantage you are using, there are two ways to disable Eye Care mode according to the company:

Quote
• For Lenovo Vantage version 4: Go to Hardware Settings -> Audio/Visual, then turn off Eye Care Mode and click on the Reset button.

• For Lenovo Vantage version 10: Go to My Device Settings -> Display & Camera.  Then click on the Reset button for "Daytime Color Temperature", turn off Eye Care Mode, and uncheck the box about "Schedule eye-care mode."

Ongoing search issues

Microsoft also published a support article today detailing solutions on how to fix problems in Windows Desktop Search after adding a new known issue to the Windows Release Health Dashboard stating that "Some users report issues related to the Start menu and Windows Desktop Search."

The company previously fixed a similar Windows 10 issue with the release of the Windows 10 KB4515384 cumulative update where searching did not return any results and Cortana had high CPU usage or sudden CPU spike.

The newly added known issue impacts Windows 10, version 1903 users and Microsoft says that it is "presently investigating and will provide an update when more information is available."
