Asus ZenBook Pro Duo wins high praise – better than a Macbook Pro
« on: September 23, 2019, 12:55:08 AM »
Not all Windows laptops are better than Macbooks, in fact, the vast majority in the market are worse, but due to the breadth and size of the Windows market, there are numerous high points where the very best Windows laptops offer much more than the Cupertino crowd can deliver from their small line-up.

Earlier this year ASUS today announced the ZenBook Pro Duo, a powerful laptop which comes with a full-width secondary 32:9 aspect-ratio touchscreen (3840 x 1100) that works seamlessly with the main display. It allows consumers to enjoy the benefits of dual-screen computing in a single device. Consumers can also manage tasks on the main display while using the secondary display for extra toolbars, multiple cross-references and companion apps. This secondary display is called ScreenPad Plus and it is placed directly above the laptop’s keyboard.

The ZenBook Pro Duo contains a 15.6 ” 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) OLED HDR screen with a 14 ” 4K (3840 x 2160) ScreenPad Plus, is powered by a 9th Gen Intel Core processor with eight cores and has NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 ray-tracing graphics. In addition, it is characterized by a 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3, NumberPad 2.0, Amazon Alexa voice control and a specific button for turbo cooling.

LinusTech has given the portable workstation a going over and found the extra screen added much more to the functionality and productivity of the laptop than one expects and found that the thermal design was good enough to keep the processor and GPU ticking over at its highest clock rates.

See their review below, where they conclude that if one were to choose between this device and a high-end Macbook Pro, Apple certainly had some catching up to do.
