The Huawei Honor Play 4 Pro 5G is the flagship model of the new Honor 4 Play series and basically offers a lot that is already available in Huawei's current top P40 series smartphones. This includes 5G support from the Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 990 Octacore SoC, but the new Play 4 Pro attracts attention with a special feature.

Thanks to the integrated infrared sensor on the back of the smartphone, the user should be able to record the body temperature of themselves and other people at any time using a simple app. The sensor required for this is already part of the camera equipment of the Honor Play 4 Pro 5G and is also used, among other things, to record depth information.

Huawei promises that the infrared sensor can measure temperatures in the range between -20 and 100 degrees Celsius. In an advertising video, the company showed how the smartphone can be held on the forehead of people, in order to then quickly and easily get information about the temperature recorded by the IR sensor in the app provided.

In addition to the built-in IR thermometer, the Honor 4 Play Pro 5G offers not only the 5G-capable SoC but also other very attractive features. It has a 6.57-inch LCD with FHD + resolution and has at least in the Chinese versions up to eight gigabytes of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory. There are two cameras in the back, with a 40-megapixel sensor installed as the main camera and an 8-megapixel sensor with triple optical zoom.

On the front, Huawei integrates a 32-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel depth sensor in the Honor Play 4 Pro 5G. In addition, there is a 4200mAh battery with a 40-watt quick charge function, the aforementioned 5G support, and NFC as well as a metal frame with glass covers as the housing material. It is still open whether and when the smartphone with an IR thermometer will also be launched in Germany. Smartphone, Honor, infrared, Honor Play 4 Pro 5G, ThemometerHonor
