Huawei Mate X2 receives WiFi certification - launch likely soon
« on: October 01, 2020, 12:33:34 PM »
The foldable smartphones have been a big topic for at least last year and many well-known manufacturers are also trying their hand at it. While Microsoft is going the way of two displays with hinges, Samsung and Huawei live with a display that can be bent. So far more bad than right, but that should change in the future.

Huawei is expected to launch the Huawei Mate 40 series (smartphones) in October. It is still unclear whether the Chinese manufacturer will also bring the foldable smartphone Huawei Mate X2 onto the market. There is some evidence that suggests the Mate X2 could also officially launch in the near future.

It is believed that the Huawei device, which recently appeared in the database of the Chinese regulatory authority TENAA, is associated with the Mate X2. The device is said to be codenamed Teton. Now, the same device has received approval from the Wi-Fi Alliance, which is important for a launch, which in turn suggests that the device may be close to its market launch.

Wifi 6 on board

The Chinese tipster who shared the screenshot of the Wi-Fi certification of the Mate X2 is named TEX-NX9. The list shows that the device supports Wi-Fi 6 and is preinstalled with the Android 10 operating system. He also claims that the Huawei Mate X2 is powered by the Kirin flagship 9000 series chipset and built-in HiSilicon Hi1105 chips for Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.

Expected specifications

It is speculated that the Huawei Mate X2 will be shipped with 8.3-inch CPI (Transparent Polymide) panels from Samsung. It should support a resolution of 2280 x 2220 pixels and the screen will possibly bring a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is speculated that the vertical stripe (see cover picture from a fan) that houses the main cameras could have an additional screen. The device could be equipped with a quad camera system with 40 megapixels + 40 megapixels (ultra wide) + 12 megapixels (telephoto) + ToF. The Mate X2 could be available to users with camera features like OIS and 3x optical zoom.
