Both the Snapdragon 888 and Kirin 9000 are based on a 5nm process.
AnTuTu has published its December 2020 Android flagship smartphone performance chart and the Xiaomi Mi 11 with the Snapdragon 888 has managed to take the top spot away from the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ with the Kirin 9000. The Snapdragon 888 vs Kirin 9000 results were very close, but the Mi 11’s 2K 120 Hz display tipped the difference.

The December AnTuTu flagship smartphone performance chart for Android devices has revealed that the new Xiaomi Mi 11 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset is the leader, with an average score over a thousand benchmarks of 708,425 points compared to the 702,819 points of the second-placed Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ with the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 SoC. It will be good news for Xiaomi executives who will enjoy getting one over their Huawei rivals, especially with a much cheaper smartphone.

The Snapdragon 888 vs Kirin 9000 results were surprisingly similar: For instance, the CPU scores across the averages were 196,344 for the Mi 11 and 191,286 for the Mate 40 Pro+ (both 12 GB + 256 GB configurations). The GPU results were even tighter, with the Adreno 660 iGPU helping the Xiaomi Mi 11 reach 306,548 points while the Mali-G78 graphics-processing component in the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ scored 305,358 points. However, AnTuTu opines that more can still be expected from the Snapdragon 888’s GPU in terms of performance.

The memory section of the benchmark was actually a victory for the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ with 118,140 points vs 110,567 points for the Mi 11. The Xiaomi device relies on speedy UFS 3.1 storage, but the Huawei phone comes with SFS 1.0, which apparently has much quicker sequential and random write and reads speeds than UFS 3.1. Lastly, the Xiaomi Mi 11 swoops in for the win in the UX section thanks to the 2K 120 Hz screen it sports, helping the Snapdragon 888 to 94,969 points over the Mate 40 Pro+’s score of 88,029 points.
