Aero Glass Theme For Windows 10 Coming Soon, Via Mod
« on: October 09, 2014, 01:37:13 AM »

Aero Glass is almost universally used on Windows 7, but soon you’ll be able to use the Aero Glass theme for Windows 10, or at least an implementation of it.

An unofficial implementation — via a mod.

It is not exactly a pixel perfect match, but the folks behind Glass8.eu are working to release the tools to enable the theme. We’ve already seen their solution for Windows 8, and since there are no major changes in the DWM of Windows 10, we can expect it for Microsoft’s new OS sooner rather than later.

At least, according to the details provided on this post.

Here’s how it currently looks when applied to Windows 10 Technical Preview:

Now obviously, that is assuming Microsoft does not bring this back on Windows 10 officially. The software titan has been getting a lot of feature requests, and it’s somewhat surprising to see a glass theme is not one of them.

Maybe people have moved beyond this popular look, who knows?

What do you think of it? Do you see Microsoft throwing in the towel and developing something similar for Windows 10? Or is this something that belongs in the past?

More importantly, are you willing to install and use third-party tools like this to get this effect? For me, this is just a transparent look, but Windows 7 had a better feel going for it, as did some other glassy themes that designers created for it.
