MWC 2014: LG confirms it will launch the LG G2 Mini
« on: February 12, 2014, 07:46:21 PM »
The Mobile World Congress 2014 event in Barcelona is now less than 2 weeks away and in the build-up to the biggest mobile event in the world we are often left guessing and speculating as to what we are going to see. Well, LG has saved us some speculation by announcing that it will be launching the new LG G2 Mini Android smartphone.

So that’s an announcement for the announcement!

LG has shown the handset on the official LG Mobile Facebook page where the company has placed a black and white (and pink!) image of the G2 facing forward, but next to it is a smaller handset which is facing away. The tag line for the image is “Experience the MINI. Mobile World Congress. 2014-02-24″.

The back of the phone doesn’t give much away spec-wise, but what we can see is that the G2 Mini will share its big brothers innovative backside buttons for power and volume.

While that sounds a tad sexist to assume, don’t forget that LG is the company that once bought us the LG Chocolate phone which was marketed almost exclusively at women.

We have had some previous rumours about the insides of the LG G2 Mini which suggest that the compact handset will sport a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 pixel resolution display with an internal 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and 2GB of RAM all running the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system too.

Over the last few years we have seen the size of most flagship smartphone screens balloon to massive sizes, which in turn has led to an increase in Mini or Light versions of handsets. Samsung, Sony and Nokia have all got smaller versions of their flagship handsets on the market and LG looks set to follow.
