Windows 8 is significantly different than previous versions of Windows. Here are some tricks and tips to help you get used to it.

1. To shut down Metro apps you'll need to go back to the main Metro interface and click the Desktop tile. The app should shut down shortly thereafter.

2. To access the old Control Panel click Control Panel in the Metro interface. Then scroll down and click More Settings. You'll be back in the old Control Panel with more options than the Metro control panel.

3. To switch between a mix of Metro and Desktop apps you can use the Windows key-tab. Or just move your mouse pointer to the very left of the screen and click the small icon. You'll switch to the last app you were running.

4. To do a screen capture press the hot key then go to the Metro desktop and click Desktop. You should go back to the Metro screen and your screen capture program should work.
