Windows 8 laptops are designed with quad-core Qualcomm CPU
« on: April 01, 2012, 06:07:45 PM »
With the aim to release new version of the ARM at the same time as x86-processor version, Microsoft is working hard to bring out their ARM port of Windows 8. These seem to be inside some thin and light laptops, which are supported with a quad-core processor made by Qualcomm.

Through a report by PCWorld.com, we can see that the company hopes Windows laptops will have quad-core version of the S4 Snapdragon processor. These things will be both thinner and lighter than notebooks, which are based on Intel’s Ultrabook design. However, the report didn’t mentioned about which producers would bring notebooks with Qualcomm’s next processor inside out.

On the Qualcomm, they also announced the addition of 64-bit support for a future version of the Snapdragon processor. But the Qualcomm senior vice president, Rob Chandhok, would not give comment about the time when will that chip released.

In recently interview about the future of Ultrabook-based laptops of PCWorld.com, Intel product manager Anand Kajshmanan, stated about plan for future Ultrabooks touch screens and supporting Windows 8 by pushing hardware makers. He said:

Quote
We fundamentally believe in the concept of touch, and touch on a clamshell. We believe it’s going to take off in 2012 or at least 2013, especially with Windows 8. It really feels like now is the right time, now that the hardware and software are working really well together. We’re strongly encouraging our partners to incorporate touch on the Ultrabooks.
